I developed a mouse model in Dr. Weinian Shou's Lab to study the mechanism of congenital heart disorder, hypoplastic left heart syndrome.

The Generation of a Mouse Model for the Determination of the hypoplastic left heart syndrome mechanism
In this research, I accomplished and learned:
Quaking(Qki) flox gene extraction from wild-type and knockout mice
Genotyping the mice with a cocktail solution for different PCR reactions.
Polymerase chain reactions to amplify the Qkif gene(Suspected gene of the cardiac disorder)
Gel electrophoresis to identify the protein bands associated with the Qki flox gene
Reviewed previous literature on hypoplastic left heart syndrome and previous work done By Dr. Shou's lab
